Where will they be employed? RAJIB DHAR

In the first place, Do you know the rate of graduates unemployed in Bangladesh ?

It’s almost 66%. Yeah, you’ve heard it right.

Sounds alarming?

By the way,

Are you wondering what you would have gone through if you were an unemployed graduate?

The following instances give you a glimpse of it.

The moment your relatives get to know you’re unemployed, they’ll take it up upon themselves to be your career counselor no matter what

Surprisingly, without knowing much about you- your interest or your caliber, people come up with advice for your career. However,

In Bangladesh , everyone is a expert about every fu…ng thing be it job , politics, international relations, medicine or others

Not only advice, they’ll also give you taunt and hollow sympathy for free. It’s gonna be a wonderful combo meal altogether. 😁

Your parents will start to taunt you with comparing others’ success

Since childhood, you’ve been hearing your parents comparing you with others doing better in studies.

Now, when it comes to your career, you’re expected to do better as well. Otherwise, brace yourself for listening to these lines from parents.

তোর বন্ধুরা জীবনে কত আগিয়ে গেল,তুই পারলি না কেন। ঘাস খা তুই ।

After all , it’s a game of flex. In any social gathering , you’ll see parents boosting about their child’s accomplishment in front of everybody. Sometimes, parents even exaggerate for the sake of it.

My son is a doctor…My son is working in USA… My son has given the biggest fart in the history of USA………My son ……My son …..My son…

Anxiety starts to kick in when you see most of your friends have got job

In university life , friends are everything.

Doing classes with friends, preparing for the exam with friends, doing projects and presentations with friends. Outside classroom-hanging out with friends. Going for a trip with friends during the semester break.

All in all, friends are all together.

But, after graduation , when you find yourself the only one left to get a job. Spending the whole day doing almost nothing, only scrolling Facebook, while your friends are busy with their career, earning big bucks.

This is where frustration and anger will start to invade you.

Ultimately, you’ll realize your University has given you a false hope

At the time of admission, you’ve seen universities pledging a lot of things with plenty of buzzwords in their brochures.

Sadly, after graduation, you’ll gradually realize most of the things you’ve learn at university have gone in vain. A waste of time.

You’ve to build new skills for getting your first job.The irony is you can’t apply for a job without an university degree.

Actually,it is only the Hope that these universities are selling to us.Nothing else.

Every social event will become uncomfortable for you

Suppose, you went to your cousin’s wedding.

Whoever you meet there will ask you this inevitable question, “……So, what are you doing now?”

If you meet 10 people , all these 10 people will ask the same question. Then, these 10 will become your career counselor.

Now, imagine yourself every time replying with a friendly facade, “I’m doing nothing… looking for job…trying” while suppressing the annoyance inside.

This is what I’ve got for you to sail through this uncomfortable experience.

Night becomes more frustrating than the day

Few months into your unemployment phase, you’ll at times experience sleepless nights- laying in the bed, wondering when would this struggle end?

Anxiety will sweep into your body, making you feel uneasy. All your regrets will then flash through you mind.

You’re doomed if you often wake up late

Now ,after graduation, when you don’t have any job, your sleeping pattern becomes disarray.

Amidst this, when your parents find you sleeping till late morning, you’re in trouble, man!

Suddenly, you’ll hear someone shouting at you , saying,

এই ছেলের আর কোন কাজ নাই । সারাদিন খায় আর ঘুমায় । দিনদিন ফুলছে সুধু।
এই ভাবে চললে,জীবনে আর কিছু করতে হবে না।

Time has come to leave the country

When it has been quite a while that you’re unemployed, you’ll blame the country for lack of opportunities. This is when you’ll think of leaving the country, believing that going abroad is the escape route from all of these.

It is really tough to stay home without a job for long. But

Best of Luck to all of you. Stay positive.
